Matt James takes a look at what’s trending in bathroom designing ideas!
Need some bathroom inspiration? The bathroom is one of the busiest rooms of the home and one where people spend a lot of time getting ready. Unless you’ve lived by yourself, it can seem like there is always someone in the bathroom when you need it! If you share your home with your partner and/or children, you basically need to create a schedule to use the bathroom, and your needs don’t always conform to the schedule. Even when you do manage to get in there, it can be difficult to navigate through the various bathroom products and toiletries filling up the bathroom.
If this sounds familiar redesigning you bathroom could change your life. The good news is that redesigning your bathroom is possible, even if your available space and budget is tight. The question is how? When redesigning your bathroom, there is a lot to keep in mind. Planning your customised dream bathroom will take it’s time, so don’t hurry to brainstorm and find the correct components, it will be worth taking your time. Also, be sure you have a realistic and affordable idea, as you don’t want to run out of your budget halfway through! There are a few more things to keep in mind when your new private relaxation area, so to assist you on your bathroom design project.
Redesigning your bathroom isn’t a yearly project. When you invest in a bathroom redesign, you want it to last for a least a decade before you consider redesigning again. A lot of people think sterile and boring when talking about age-appropriate bathrooms. Instead, think of hotel bathrooms, which mostly are age-appropriate due to official standards and hotels not wanting to renovate every few years. If you go to the effort of redesigning your bathroom, do so with the future in mind. If there is not enough light installed, it not only makes it hard to shave or put on makeup, it will also create a less warm atmosphere. A general rule of thumb is that there’s never too much light. If you have a window, don’t put anything in front of it or hang too dark curtains. Natural light is the best for your eyes and for your overall health.
Trends come and go, especially for the home. What may be hot now, may not stay hot for long. So it’s important not to get caught up in the latest trends at the risk that they will date quickly. With home improvements, you want to make sure that you opt for more of a timeless approach and make the most of your investment. When redesigning your bathroom, it’s important to keep in mind, and look out for alternatives that might be easier, more cost effective, and more environmentally friendly.
With many of us squeezing into smaller homes in urban spaces, we have come to cherish our green spaces wherever we can find them. If your short on floor space, hanging planters are a great choice, or, if you want to take it one step further you could even create a living wall. This year it’s out with the dull, neutral or monochrome palettes and in with bold and bright colours that really make a statement. Whilst I’m not for one minute suggesting you go out and get an avocado or pink suite like those from bathroom designs of the eighties, bold, primary colours are making a bit of a comeback in contemporary bathrooms. The great thing about choosing colours for bathroom designs is that the shades you pick don’t have to be permanent, unlike your fixtures and fittings. By simply painting your walls or incorporating accessories you can add the colour of the moment to your décor, for a stylish on-trend bathroom.
